Agnes Gonxha Bojaxhiu is a 26-year-old girl who was born in August 1910. She was committed to the missionaries’ work from a young age. Her early skills, including the ability to help the homeless and give to the less fortunate, were a major influence on her future direction. Agnes committed her life helping those in greatest need. Soon, she was named Mother Teresa by the Sisters of Loreto. She did countless amazing acts, including founding ‘The Missionaries of Charity’. Later she died on September 5, 1997.
Mother Teresa’s impact on us can be seen in many ways. It is possible to see the influence of Mother Teresa’s voluntary acts of helping, feeding and simply interacting with homeless people. It inspires us to be compassionate and kind towards those less fortunate through her acts. It motivates us all to help the homeless and those in need. Many people have been inspired by her dedication to the sick, the poor, and the marginalized. Since her youth, she supported the poor. The majority of her wealth went to the community and charity. Mother Teresa was determined to make sure that the missionaries of Charity were able to assist homeless and orphaned people. It is easy to see how her love for the poor can be a guideline to helping those in need. Mother Teresa gave a few sermons to the people in pain while she cared for many of her patients. She shared stories with the people and used quotes from scripture. Many people were made aware of the importance of inspiring worship and evangelism. Many teachings were left by Jesus before his departure. Mother Teresa reinforced some his teachings and made sure they were followed. Jesus spent his entire life serving others. One example of this was when he washed the feet for his disciples. Mother Teresa also showed a lot of service in her life, which included feeding, cleaning, and serving others. Jesus taught us in Mark 12:31 that we should love our neighbor as ourselves. Mother Teresa loved everyone unconditionally and believed that everyone was worthy of being loved regardless of circumstance. She was a tireless volunteer who gave her time to others. Mother Teresa was also an advocate for forgiveness. Peter asked Jesus in Matthew 18:21-22, “Lord, if someone sins against you, how many times should I forgive?” Jesus responded, “Lord, if another member of the church sins against me, how many times should I forgive?”
Mother Teresa went beyond the Gospel Values. Jesus taught the disciples to wash their feet during Holy Thursday. Similar to Jesus, she was exemplary in her service and compassion for others. She was there for people in need, no matter what their circumstances. She was kind, patient, compassionate, concerned, and had an authentic love for all people. Our eternal life is reflected in her actions. These were just a few of the Gospel values that she lived by on her travels.
